Period late and a virgin??

Question

My period is 14 days late but I am a virgin! I have been experiencing intense bloating to the point where my leggings do not feel comfortable around my waist anymore? What’s happening?

Sometimes you miss periods or your periods are late, this is completely normal. Everyone will skip a period at some point, and while 28 day cycles are the norm they aren’t the rule for everyone.
I’m assuming you are a teenager, and I want you to know it is very common for your period to fluctuate while you are going through puberty as the hormones in your body change.
As for the leg pain and bloating, if this is a normal side effect for you when you are in your period I wouldn’t worry as it is common to get period side effects (mood swings, cramping, bloating, ect) even without the physical bleeding.
If these are not normal side effects for you then they may not be connected to your period at all, if you are taking any new medications or have made any recent drastic lifestyle changes (going vegan, taking up a new high intensity sport) these could be the cause and I would recommend speaking with your doctor on how to manage this.
If the above don’t apply then I recommend taking anti inflammatory medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen or help with the bloating and pain, if they don’t work within a week then speak with your doctor.
