Am I being rude??

My friend just asked me to come celebrate her 21st birthday with her and her college friends. Her birthday is the 23rd. I told her that I have a family Christmas party that day, but I have a gift for her and will bring it to her. She told me I am rude and selfish for not coming to celebrate with her. Please also keep in mind that my 21st birthday was November 28th and she didn't even tell me happy birthday let alone come celebrate with me. Do you think I'm being rude for not going though?

Honestly she’s the one being selfish. It’s not like ur missing her birthday get together on purpose u hve a very good reason y ur not attending. Plus u even STILL got her a gift. Mind u, u said she didn’t wish YOU happy birthday and she didn’t celebrate with u!!! As far as I’m concerned, she can kick rocks with an open toe shoe!!! I would have done the same honestly. Hung out with family for Christmas, or tried to split time between both parties if it was possible of course. But her calling you rude for that is pretty uncalled for. Who knows when you plan what. It sounds a little childish to me. I was disappointed when my friend couldn’t come for my birthday but I wouldn’t berate her for it. Things happen

Not at all. I used to have a friend that would purposely plan her birthday parties on a day she knew I couldn't go and then would throw a pity party to everyone that her best friend didn't care enough to come. Cut contact with her after a few times of her pulling that.
