How do I talk to him when he’s so sensitive

We have been dyeing for 3 years and I love him but it’s just not fun anymore. He’s stopped being sweet and caring awhile ago. I have told him and suggested we just keep dating by give each other space so he can realize that if he wants me to be with him then he needs to act like a bf. We have been arguing over stupid stuff and he keeps getting upset at me for little petty things. We are supposed to have a fun date planned by me (like I always do) but I just don’t even want to go, there’s no point to spend money when deep down I’m upset and he can’t see this. I laid in bed crying the last few nights until I took his hand and put it on my tears then he got all upset because he does love me just doesn’t show it. How do I make him realize how I feel without him crying (cause Ik for a fact that he doesn’t hear what I’m saying). Then after i feel worse because I spill my heart out and there’s no solution
