Painful PP sex

My son is 13 weeks old. He was born via c-section because he was breech. I had a difficult pregnancy, including bleeding from weeks 11-14, and after an ER visit, the OB put me on pelvic rest, which I then, out of fear and anxiety and paranoia, insisted upon for the entire duration of my pregnancy, much to my husband's dismay! So, now that we are past the 6 week recovery period, he has been anxious to get back to it. Now, I'm 34, we have been married for 5 years, I have been sexually active since I was 17 (with him! High school sweethearts!), and I've never had a problem with pain during sex. But now, we have done it 3 times since the baby arrived, and after 8 months of abstaining, it hurt SO BAD. I mean, he is well endowed, but we had proper foreplay and lubrication and everything, but I was not prepared for how painful it would be, especially since I had a c section. Is this normal?! I feel like a born again virgin!
