Lunch meat and pregnancy?

Did anyone else eat lunch meat while pregnant? I don't mean everyday but once in a blue moon? And is it okay?

Yes, but not all the time. I also make sure to only get it from delis that I know have a high turnover rate for their cold cuts. This way I know that they aren't sitting or old meats.

Yeah I've eaten it a couple times this pregnancy so far. It's okay in moderation. The threat of getting sick from it is very low.

I have. A few times I didn’t have much of an option...(family and work gatherings). I have heard from my primary care doc and also multiple places online that if you heat the meat up to steaming it’s okay. I still would listen to your drs opinion and probably not eat it often :)

I mean I eat it all the time.. I’m 26w3d. I crave it. It’s not really as bad as everyone makes it out to be. My doctor told me if I wanted to eat it then eat it. Listeria isn’t very common at all. Actually it’s rare.

I’m 32-33 weeks & I actually asked my doctor about this & she told me that it can cause you to get sick due to bacteria that our bodies can’t fight off. Where as we could before. She also said she ate it the whole time she was pregnant & was perfectly fine. She recommended me to heat up my sandwich meat for at least 15 seconds in the microwave before eating it. I do fry my sandwich meat or microwave it before eating at home. however, I have ate things like left over subway & Dairy Queen that was in the fridge without heating it back up. I’ve been fine so far, I do worry about it because I’m aware of it, But when you’re hungry on the go, you grab it & go without thinking twice lol.

My doctor told me You have a higher chance of listeria from eating bagged salad or frozen vegetables 😊 if you heat it up it makes it super safe, but you don’t have to.

I ate A TON when I was pregnant with my daughter 10 years ago because it wasn’t a “rule” then and everything has always been fine with her 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t have health problems and she’s never had any. No learning or attention issues. She’s 100% normal and healthy!

I’ve eaten it a ton. I talked to my doctor and she told em the risk is so minimal that it’s okay to eat. She mentioned the heating it up if I was really worried but I tend to get my sandwiches from our local deli so I don’t want to have to have them do that, plus i don’t like hot sandwiches.

i ate it everyday and I am 15 weeks almost 16,it didn't cause any issues
