UPDATE: She deleted the tweet shortly after I made the insta post (:

In grade school there was a girl who I was good friends with, but she always started drama. In high school it got worse. She would bully girls on the cheer team, myself included, calling them fat and saying she would take their place on the team (that’s just the gist of it, a lot more was said). Now we are in college, and recently I’ve noticed her tweeting some judgmental things such as “if you have a vsco and a finsta you’re a hoe, no exceptions”, and today she tweeted “if you’re gonna post a bikini pic on Instagram in the winter you might as well caption it ‘hey everyone look at my ass and give me attention’”... So I did just that. I posted a bikini picture from this past summer, and made her tweet as the caption. This was hard for me to do because 1) I don’t want to start drama and 2) I don’t post a lot on Instagram BUT something in my soul was telling me to do it. So I did.

She messaged me, which I expected, and we ended up having a pretty positive conversation. She said the tweet wasn’t about me, but I don’t think it matters who the tweet was about. I think what matters is we need to support one another, not tear each other down.

I made that Instagram post for the girls, and boys, who are scared to speak up. I posted it for those who are scared to show their bodies because of what people may think or say. Please don’t get down on others for what they choose to wear, post, share with the world, etc. We are all unique and beautiful (:
