Can tats cover scars??

Question

Ive a lot of kinda deep scar marks on my forearm from a past with self harm and im wondering does scar tissue tattoo well? I want to get them covered and have a piece picked out but ive read mixed opinions on the outcome.

I read that as "can cats cover scars" and I wanted to reply with YES YES YES. 
however, I still can. My wrists are covered in scars (dumb, I know, I'm stupid) and I got a tattoo of my cat... which I so cleverly call a "cattoo". ink is staying in so well!

ps: Lady Nora Delores (AKA Ladybug, Buggo, Nor) loves the cattoo.

They can cover them, you’ll probably still be able to see them if you look close enough. I’m in progress on my sleeve

They can be covered, but the older they are the better it will turn out. Sometimes the ink can bleed and the lines can get blurry, so it's best to do something less precise (like a portrait or text) and more abstract (watercolor, flowers, etc).

Yes! Just make sure your scars are totally healed up. I went to a tattoo artist to ask if it could be done, scars were about 1 to 2 years old but some were still pinkish. He told me to come back half a year later to check again. He finished the design and it covered up pretty well! of course there's still some noticeable texture but apart from that it looks good.

A while ago a few groups were experimenting with tattooing with no ink over scars. It works surprisingly well. I’ll post some links if I can find anything one it
