Vaginal odor after delivery..

I'm 10 days pp and just a few days ago I noticed the discharge from my vagina (blood and whatever else) smelled terrible. It's a very foul odor. I called the dr today and went to get checked and he said he visually didn't see any signs of infection, but they didn't test me for anything. He said it was normal and there would be a smell for a few weeks. I feel like I have some sort of infection. The discharge is more of a brownish tint than red. Anyone else ever had this problem and what do I do to make it go away???
