do you hate your pet after baby has been born?

Our German shepherd used to be my baby, the love of my life, before my baby girl was born. now I can't stand him. he wants all the attention. everytime my fiance gives our baby attention, our dog comes running over and gets in between them so my fiance can't pay attention to our daughter anymore. he also follows my fiance around everywhere and it drives me NUTS!!!!!!! I feel like a psycho path but I can't help how I'm feeling. has anyone else experienced this?

My dog was also my baby before our little one was born. He has since become much more needy. But I try to remember that he’s just trying to secure his place in the pack. Not that he’s being replaced. So we try to involve him when playing with the baby. The baby loves watching the dog play fetch. And he is so gentle with her. It’s easy to brush our pets off, but they just want to be loved too.

I’m glad I’m not the only one...... I don’t hate my dogs but omg they are so annoying especially the little one. I can’t do anything without her being in my face or crying at me for attention. Even the Labrador who’s 10 has decided to get in the way all the time. I feel like I have 3 babies now.

I don’t hate my dog.. I love her but she does get annoying during the day. She steals my sons burp cloths.. she tries to eat the cereal I am feeding him, and she’ll try to lick his hands 🙄

I don't have a pet, but it's essentially the same as having another baby. when I just had this baby, our oldest was 3 monthsnshy of being 3 years old. So for just about 3 years, she was our whole world. She was the only one to get our attention at home, and she didn't have to share attention from mommy and daddy with anyone else. I mean, we spent a lot of time with my sister (and still do) and she has an 8 year old and my niece who's 3 months younger than our oldest, so it's always been like she had a brother and a sister, but she still got that solo time with us. We obviously told her that we were having a baby, but it's still a huge adjustment for them to add a new sibling. I'd give them a little while longer to get used to it. good luck!

I definitely find myself more easily irritated with them (we have two dogs), like when they shake and wake up the baby. They are our babies too though and just need some love. They've been really good with the baby and we always try to make sure to let them know it.

My dog has been driving me insane too. 
He digs and gets out of the fence when he’s left alone for 10 min. He has toys but chooses to dig. 
Having a 5 month old I can’t just drop everything and run after the dog when he gets out. We’ve put rocks in everywhere so he can’t dig but he finds a way. 
We are moving and if he digs a hole in my new backyard im getting rid of him. I cant do it anymore. I love him but my sons safety is more important to me and if I’m running after this stupid dog anything could happen to him in a house alone. 
I put him in a safe spot but ANYTHING can happen and my dog isn’t worth my sons life. 
I don’t feel bad for saying that. 
I’ll find a good home for him, obviously.

I didn’t know this was such a common thing! My dog was everything but now she really just drive me nuts... all I can see is her hair everywhere! She’s 14 years old and whiney.. I do feel bad for her but she still gets a lot of dad’s attention

Yes 😭 I have no clue what it is, and I hate feeling this way. We have 4 kitties and they all drive me crazy! It makes me so sad, I try not to get annoyed but I have no idea what’s wrong with me.

I totally understand getting more easily annoyed with your pet but I’m surprised at how many people are saying they hate their pets now ☹️ my dog is always in the way and tries to lick the baby and get our attention. It can make me nuts but I still love her to death and always try to make her feel included. She’s a 4 year old golden, and I have to vacuum every day. But I knew that wouldn’t change when my baby came along. 
Try to include them and let them know they are still very loved. It may help them calm down a bit. I know it’s easier said than done but remember that to them, you are their world!

If you treat you pup like a baby (how could you not) before bubs arrives, well then of course they will cling. Dogs have a tendency to feel very insecure if they feel they are being replaced (which your obviously doing) and they can get their feelings hurt too. Your pet was there for you when you needed them and to brush them off and then complain about how needy they are sounds selfish. When my grandmother died her dog grieved for her, wouldn’t play, couldn’t eat and would stare at walls. They do experience depression. The baby should ALWAYS be put first, but just spare a few minutes if your days giving the pup a treat and a cuddle. They’ll stop being as needy when they feel secure ❤️
