Probably it depends on a person who you talk about. But if there are things that can be fixed, try to fix it but if it’s much more than it just remember; If a person is a problem in your life, just leave it. 
My mom always says « If your arm is a problem in your life, cut it off. If i am a problem in your life, just don’t care about family bond and leave me. Nothing is important enough to make you feel this way. »
