Co sleeping and nursery?

Hi! So I'm a FTM and currently 18weeks. I have been thinking about how I wanted to do a nursery for my son, but I know that I also want him to sleep with me for awhile. Like putting a bassinet or doing the "ikea crib hack". Is it pointless to do both? Does anyone else have a nursery and also has the baby sleep with them? What are your thoughts on it?

We had a pack n play in our bedroom right next to our bed and a nursery set up in the bedroom next to ours for our first baby and it worked out perfectly!! We plan to do the same with our second (currently 15w5d). It made night time feedings and changes easier and we had everything already set up when we/baby was ready to transition into his own bed.

so, our sidecar crib was easy. in fact, I looked at the website that posted that crib photo you've got above :)
basically any convertible crib will work, just set it up in three sided " toddler daybed" mode. depending on it's height, and the height of your bed, you may need to put your bed in those bed lifting feet, or even trim the wooden legs of the crib to make it shorter. an INEXPENSIVE convertible crib is best! Lol
next you have to make sure the two beds are TIGHTLY held together. hers a pic of how they did it for that example:

basically, you're preventing gaps! no gaps, no place for baby to get stuck
my crib is up against the wall, and my bed is ridiculously heavy (wood, with four full drawers under it), so neither is going any where! 
I still check for gaps between the mattress es every night, because I'm a mom I guess :D

I have nursery set up but also have bassinet in master for the first month or so while hubby is off work. Makes it easier to have them close for a couple weeks and once you establish a “routine” move to nursery. That’s what I did with my first one so I’m hoping I have the same luck with this one. Do whatever you feel comfortable with.

I don’t think it’s silly, my baby slept with me until 9 months old, but even still it’s nice to have a dark quiet room with a crib and a swing and rocking chair for baby to nap in during the day (you’ll want your room free for showering and being in there) also a place to change baby and keep his clothes and store extra baby gear, totally practical! 😌

My son is one month and sleeps with us, and I don’t mind! We haven’t even bought a crib. We will get him one once we want to start sleep training him 😊 as of now, we figured it would just take up room.

first baby, I had a pack n play (the kind with the "bassinet" bit only, not the changer/napper) next to my bed. When he slept through the night he went to the crib in his room.
second baby, had an Arms Reach Cosleeper, would recommended! we had the largest size, equivalent to a pack n play, but it was even with the bed height, and has an adjustable side. he went to a twin bed in his own room after we moved, and he had a room to go to! 
pic above is for third baby, she's eight weeks. so far it's great :)
this one won't have her own room till big bubba moves out and goes to college. he's a Sr in HS this year!

we have a pack n play for our bedroom and he still has his own room right down the hall. lol. it was fun to decorate. he will use it eventually!!
