Anyone have IUI success with spouse who has Varicocele?

Just wondering if anyone has had success? So far I've done my part, lost 60 pounds more than the 10% my fertility Dr requested, but my husband still hasn't quit smoking, which they told him would be very helpful with his sperm counts being low. The last time we meet with them they told us that his levels were good enough though that we would be good candidates for IUI, I'm just wondering about others with this. We discussed having the surgery but she told us at our ages and having to wait a year for his recovery and the sperm count to recover if it even did it wouldn't be worth it. Thanks in advance!!
