Chemical Pregnancy

hi, back in June I was about a month late on my cycle and I took a test in my birthday and it was positive. I kept retesting for about 5 more days until I then got a negative. I am learning that I may have a had a chemical pregnancy and miscarried due to the egg not being able to attach to my uterus, could this be true? it was very devastating to both my husband and I as we have been trying for years. now, I have gained so much more weight in my mid section til its strange, please advise.
