Doctor failed us...

Victoria

(Edit: Before I go into my story, even the ER doctor was shocked and confused that there were no HCG tests done and no ultrasound follow up.) My doctor is amazing. My sister used him 11 years ago and he has amazing reviews. Last year I had him for surgery and I've never trusted a doctor more. My surgery last year involved him removing my left fallopian tube due to a very large cyst that mangled it, as well as a smaller egg sized cyst that was scraped off the right tube. I also had an ectopic pregnancy at that time which didn't help matters. He advised that when I got pregnant again, get an appointment to see him asap. A year later, I'm pregnant. I called his office and told them that he said I needed an appointment asap. They scheduled it for the following week. I go to my appointment, everything seems great. They draw blood (six vials) and I go home and schedule an ultrasound for the following week. My hospital has an app that posts tests results so we can manage our healthcare and view everything (for the most part), so the next week I get two results from the bloodwork. A urine screen and blood screen. Neither one showed my HCG level. It's my first actual pregnancy so I didn't realize what all I should have gotten. I went to my ultrasound. The tech said I was 6 weeks and 4 days but the heart rate might be low (it was 88bmp) but that could be due to it having just starting. She said I should get a call the next day or two from my doctor to go over it. I never heard anything except that they needed to reschedule my appointment, which meant I want going to see my doctor for the entire month of December! On December 22nd I had brown spotting (which I'm still experiencing) but Christmas Eve there was bright red when I went to the bathroom. We went to the ER. They didn't do an ultrasound since they didn't think it was necessary. (No painful cramping or clots) and did bloodwork. They were severely confused and disheartened that basic bloodwork was missing from my initial prenatal visit and that I never got a follow up from the ultrasound. They said my HCG levels seem a little low for 9 weeks but had nothing to compare my current numbers to. I'm going in to check my levels today to make sure they're not dropping. I've scheduled an appointment with a different OB that has rave reviews but I'm just a wreck. My fiance is furious with our initial OB and refuses to let me go back even though we both liked him so much. We are just so disappointed.
