Paraguard?

Okay ladies 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Help a girl out. I LOVE my pill, but I want something I don’t have to think about. I have horrible anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and panic disorder and I feel like my pill exacerbates these problems for me. 
I’m considering the Paraguard IUD, but I want to know as much as I can before making the jump. Any and all tips are welcome! ❤️❤️❤️

I’ve had it since march 2017 and it hasn’t given me any problem. Still have my regular periods, they last the same and there has been no change in the menstrual flow. The only downside was at the time of insertion it hurt a little and I had a long period that started when it was inserted. My husband doesn’t feel anything and neither do I when we have sex. I switched because I'm afraid I might lose insurance soon and wanted something effective that lasts a while, plus no hormones was is nice. My first period on it was crazy, especially compared with what I got on the pill, but after that they've all been just a little longer and heavier, and I sometimes take a pain killer before going to sleep because of cramps. Nothing unbearable. On the pill I was dry down there and gained weight, plus it wasn't great with my bipolar 😢. Definitely be ready for some physical symptoms, but I think theyre worth it, especially also having to deal with mental illness and the pill ✌️

I had it from 2013 until june 2017.  It works, but it gave me lost of health issues.  My period was heavy and lasted for 7 days 😖 every month right after my period had yeast infection, which it was the worst part for me. I had  anxiety in my stomach, sooo crazy! (never in my life had this before) of course Doctors don’t believe it ( they don’t listen carefully to patients, books don’t thought all that, so for them is hard to believe) I had acne and lost lots of hair.  So I decided to take it out.  Best decision ever.... My periods are back to normal (4 days), no more vaginal infections ( this just proofs that it was the paraguard 😏) My hair is great. And that wired feeling in my stomach is gone.  Cooper toxicity could affect each person differently.    You can try it, and see how you feel.  Good luck!

I have the Paragard and I love it! I chose it because the hormones in hormonal BC mess with my moods so I wanted something with no hormones and I wanted something super effective and long-term. 
The only downside to the paragard is usually your periods get longer/heavier/more crampy. My periods weren’t bad to begin with so even though they’ve gotten worse it’s not a big deal. If you already have bad periods I’d maybe recommend looking into hormonal IUDs, they have a much much smaller dose of the birth control hormones than the pill or the patch.

I’ve had my Paraguard IUD since January of 2015 and it being almost three years later I couldn’t be happier. I wanted something with no hormones because my period was never really weird or heavy at all. I would say it takes about a year for your body to get used to it and for your period to get and stay normal. After that it’s smooth sailing and sex whenever you want without worrying about a thing, I don’t regret it at all! Everyone’s body is different though but it wouldn’t hurt to try! I tried the paraguard because it wasn’t hormonal and every other form of birth control exacerbated my issues with depression. Unfortunately my uterus expelled the IUD. My gyn said that can happen with women who have not been pregnant before bc their uterus is smaller. So it kinda pushed the IUD out.

I have had the Paraguard for 6 years now. I am bi-polar, have PTSD, and severe anxiety. I take daily medications to treat the symptoms. The main reason I switched from the pill was because the hormones were making all of my other issues worse. Love my IUD, now whenever I am having other issues I know they are being caused by my disorders rather than the hormones being put into my body. Highly suggest the Paraguard IUD.
