Teen moms are better off than I

Maria

My husband and I are very middle class. He graduated college, I am almost done but dropped out because I was sick of racking up more student loan debt. We have tenants that are very young mothers. I look at their lives and they’re in their happy little homes, with furniture and holiday decor and gifts under their beautiful Xmas tree. Above all else, they have multiple adorable children and a family.

I just feel like my husband and i will never be financially secure enough to have children because I got royally screwed over at 18 by signing on for all this student loan debt. I was falsely told (by teachers and guidance counselors) there would be scholarships for me and that if I went to college there would always be a way to pay. I was then told that my student loan debt would be forgiven if I worked for a non profit (also false for most of my debt.)

Now I’m getting older and by the time we’re finally in a place to have a baby, I’ll probably be considered high-risk. It’s just not fair. I did everything I was supposed to do.
