all in one car seats?

Do I need to get an infant car seat and then a second one for them when they are bigger or can I just get an all in one that can carry and infant - do those even exsist?  Hoping for suggestions!!!

I’ve never heard of a convertible car seat that can be used as a carrier. If you want to be able to carry your baby in a car seat you must buy an infant seat. It seems like a waste of money, but it really is handy to have an infant seat so I think it’s worth it.

We are skipping the infant car seat and just getting a convertible one. I’ve never enjoyed lugging around an infant car seat as a way to transport them and would rather just stick them in a baby carrier haha. You’ll just have to make sure that the convertible car seat can securely fit a newborn, check the weigh limits (as some convertibles start at 9/10lbs which won’t work if you have a 7lb baby haha) and make sure to look up the safety reviews on it for newborns.

We got an infant seat so we can easily transport/carry baby, but I got one used so it was much cheaper. I made sure it was manufactured in 2017 since most car seats have a 5 year life span.

Really depends on you. We got an infant carrier for stroller rides in the summer and not to wake the baby during transport but in SO vehicle will have a convertible that goes from 5lbs to 100lbs.

I don’t know if this is everywhere but I live in NH and the hospitals can’t legally let you leave with your baby without an infant car seat. When I had my oldest we had to bring the car seat into the room and strap him in so the nurse could make sure we did it right (would’ve done it that way anyways but still).

I have one of each. I got a carrier just to make life easier with doctors appointments and plus baby will be born first week of January and it’s super cold where i live so i didn’t want to expose him to the cold weather by taking him in and out of the convertible. The carrier will stay in my car and the other will be in my husbands truck for if it’s absolutely needed.

When is your baby due and where do you live? If it is warmer I would say it’s more doable than if it’s cold. The infant carrier was a definite must  for me because I had my son late fall and it was 100x easier getting him in and out inside and just clicking it into the base.
A convertible stays in the car all the time so you need to take the time to correctly do the straps and stuff outside. So if it’s cold and gross, it sucks a lot.

It all depends on your baby! I got the Chicco Keyfit carrier and stroller set, it all clicks into one another, and that usually lasts 1-2 years, but my LO grew so fast (he met the 30lb weight limit and 30" height limit by 7mo), that I had to purchase a bigger carseat. Fortunately that's not usually the case for most babies haha, I just have a big one. I really did love the keyfit system!
