Pregnant after chemotherapy!

Rachael

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe it!

I’m currently 26 years old.

3 years ago to the exact day (NYE), I went to the GP with an ovarian cyst. Before it was removed in March 2015 it was measuring at 27cm, 1 stone in weight and contained 7 litres of fluid. After the removal, they discovered the cyst was cancerous and I had a laparotomy to remove my appendix, 1 ovary and to check the other ovary and bowel etc.

My husband and I also went through IVF and froze our embryos before starting chemotherapy for 6 months (ending December 2015).

We were told by the oncologist that we couldn’t start trying for children until December 2017. I waited and waited. In the meantime, we had numerous appointments with oncologists and fertility specialists, who also said that they found ‘extensive endometriosis’ during the 1st operation which led me to have a Hycosy just to ensure the 1 remaining Fallopian tube was intact.

This morning, after a month of trying, I took my first ever pregnancy test (5 days before expected period... I couldn’t wait) and it says positive. It’s still early days and I’m not getting my hopes up but I’m SO relieved that everything still works and hopefully we’ll have our very own baby.
