Disney world trip suggestions?

I’ve been thinking about taking my daughter to Disney world in February.  This is personally my idea of a nightmare but I know she would love it!  Are there any experienced Disney folk that can offer my any suggestions? Is it worth it to stay at a resort affiliated with the park? I haven’t been since I was 8 almost 30 years 😬😬😬! Happy new year!!!

Thanks so much for all the good info!!! We will be on Sanibel Island with my mom for two weeks, I thought it would be fun for a couple days.  My daughter is 7 now so it seems like a good age :)

staying on property makes everything easier. 
you get to use their transportation busses from hotel to parks. 
you also get advantage of magical hours. (getting into certain parks early/staying late) and meal packages. 
use the website! you can plan a whole trip just to show how much it will cost. choose days/hotels/park hopper.  ect. 
park hoppers are good if you think you will want to switch parks throughout the day. (morning at magic kingdom, night at epcot) or if a park gets to busy you can hop on a bus to a different park! 
FAST PASSES are your best friend. USE THEM. look at rides you think you've will want to go on and then plan fast passes around that. (Peter pans flight, any of the roller coaster, anything in avatar land, toy story mania for example  always have long lines) 
bring your own water, ponchos for the rain, sun screen. 
look at what shows you want to see. the magic kingdom parade is awesome! so in the night time castle show! 
seeing a certain character can be a pain, some switch out throughout the day.
download the free app, my Disney experience it tells you who is out and times, also ride times- I found it's pretty accurate. 
confused again go on the website, they have people to help plan! use them! it's their job. 
I knew a family who went for a day to magic kingdom while visiting family and they had no fun. went on two rides, saw one character. they didn't plan! 
most of all have fun.

I just took my little guy for the first time since we live only 30 mins away. Disneyland not Disneyworld.It is exhausting as a day trip. I would say spend the money to stay at a resort for multiple days, that way you can go for a bit in the morning one day and then back again later, or the next day, and spread it out. My little guy was a trooper and we did about 8 hours in the park- he walked the entire time! (He’s 4). I was dying though since I’m
8 months pregnant 😅
Fast passes are a great idea, I didn’t know about them but waiting in line was the worst part.
