Pre-conception Appt???

So I finally got my insurance with the start of the new year and called to schedule a pre-conception appointment, I go in February 2nd. Can anyone tell me what will be done normally at a pre conception visit? Also if I happen to conceive before the appointment (hopefully there will be no AF between now and then!) is that Ok? They can always switch gears right, or is that a whole diff department? Any suggestions about questions to ask? Do you think these appts are helpful, or no?
