How do I make girl friends?

This is a weird question but do you make friends?
I work from home so I don’t have any coworkers. I’m debating getting a second part time job just to meet other women to befriend. Is that desperate or what? I seriously have ONE friend who lives in another state. I just want girl friends that can come over and watch movies with me and go out to brunch with. 
Like are there friendship apps? I need help. 😭

Meetup app is a great way to meet people that share your interests. Also, when your baby is born I’ve found it’s easy to make other mom friends with babies same age as yours going to mommy and me meet ups.

Take up an old hobby, like playing an instrument in a local orchestra/windband. Sing in a choir. Baby and mum swim class/gym.
