Am I out of line?

So I was just talking to my mom about the baby shower, mentioning dates and what not. And she asked if I would like to have it at her house (2.5 hours away), or my hometown (2 hours away). And I said I'd like to have it at my house. She comes back and says I'd have a better turn out/people would be more likely to come if I had it in Eugene (my hometown), which I have thought about, but I was annoyed at her response as I feel like she just wants it to be convienent for her. I told her I don't care, it's MY shower so tough shit. Am I out of line here?

You thought it yourself and she’s probably not wrong. If she refuses to have it where you want it, you could get mad, but don’t just be mad at her for an honest comment if she’s helping you throw a shower.

My dad flew from Roseburg OR to Reno NV for my baby shower because it was convenient for the rest of us. We all live here, he lives there. He also rented us a huge hotel room for the shower.
The only person it should be convenient for is the expecting mother. Everyone else can either live with the commute, or not go.

I don't think either of you were out of line. If she thinks more people will attend if you have it in your hometown then that's a valid point. No point having a shower where you know it'll be a low turnout. I'm not even talking about gifts, but it's a nicer way to celebrate if more people are there.

No, you're not out of line. Everyone has boundaries and things that make them uncomfortable/upset, and we're completely justified. "No." is a full sentence. My mom gets too involved in my pregnancies and child rearing, and my relationship. She asks too many questions, and then tells the entire family. Ugh.

I don’t think your out of line. When I had my baby shower when I was pregnant with my son I drove 3 hours away to make it more convenient for everyone else. This time I’m doing what’s convenient for me, which is staying home. If people don’t come that’s  on them. It’s a day to celebrate you and your new addition, you deserve to be comfortable and to have it where you want it. 😊

That’s better than the conversation I had with my mom today about a shower. 
My mom doesn’t get along with two of my best friends, or my husband’s Nana. My mom causes drama. The God mother of our twins is throwing a shower for my husband’s family and our friends/co workers. My mom immediately said she was being rude for not including my side... it was actually my idea to keep the sides separate to prevent any drama. 
My mom has been saying since we found out we were pregnant again after losing our son at 22w6d, that she’d do a shower for our side. Well today she said that “she said” she’d only do it if no one else steps up to do. The mother of the bride/pregnant woman does not throw the shower. She threw one for my brother and his wife for their baby. 
Well now she’s saying I’m causing the drama. 
This woman is driving me insane. She dramatizes everything for attention. They say I gave birth to our stillborn son, she literally turned it into a photo shoot!

My immediate family is flying from Seattle to San Francisco for my baby shower. I only want to have one, and they totally understand. It’s your shower, just do what makes you comfortable and happy.
