Labor?!

Hey ladies, I’m due in March. With my son I had an emergency c-section and so I never felt what it was like to know when I was going into labor. I would just like to know how you ladies came to realize you were in labor and how would you describe the pain. Thanks ladies!

I had my first baby this past August. My doctor would always ask me at my last few appointments if I’d been having contractions and I’d always respond with “I don’t know?”. I had no clue what they’d feel like or how I’d even know if I was in early labor unless my water broke. The day I had my son I woke up early in the morning and was having some cramping, just like period cramps. I just knew I was in labor. Sure enough they got worse as the day went on and I had my son later that night! My water never broke. I promise, you’ll know!

someone is squeezing your insides and you can't talk through them. when you are in active labor, you will likely not question and will know.

You’ll know because the pain is like hell on earth. I knew I was in early labor, before it really started hurting, because the contractions were appropriately spread apart. Earlier with Braxton Hicks they came every 1-2 minutes but they didn’t hurt at all. With real labor they started every 7 minutes, had a little ache to them, but gradually started hurting more and more. It’s hard to describe how you’ll know, but like everyone says, you’ll know. My SO still doesn’t understand how I knew the difference between false and real labor, he thought it was time every time. And the pain is like period cramps at the beginning, but soon it feels like someone squeezing your whole torso in a vice tighter and tighter.

i thought i wouldn’t but with my first i woke up and was in active labor and immediately went to the hospital and was ten cm. it was the worst pain i have ever felt in my life. with my second i started having aching in my hips and back with each contraction and i just thought it was more intense braxton hicks because i nearing the end (35+6) and i only went to the hospital because i was having sharp abdominal pains (not labor related i don’t think) and turns out i was in labor 😅

My labor started like period cramps here and there. As the day went on they got more regular and stronger, then after a few hours,  they started getting closer together.
