Does anal really lead to a lot of diseases even when using protection?

So my grandma and I are extremely close, so one day when she found out I was having sex she told me to never have anal sex because it's disgusting and can lead to diseases. She's very old fashion, so she thinks kissing, oral, and anal are all gross. She's a germaphobe. I was just wondering if she is overreacting again or if this is true.

If you’re switching anal to vaginal without using a new condom you’re inserting fecal matter into your vagina and it can cause infection. Not so much disease. If you’re wearing protection I’d think the only disease that could be spread would be any STD/STI that only require skin-to-skin to transmit. So around the base of his penis or your areas touching his could potentially spread disease if you have it. UNPROTECTED...of course disease can spread and the main one people worry about is HPV as it’s the most common culprit in regards to rectal/colon cancers.

Well people who have anal sex are more likely to get an STI because the anal cavity absorbs more than vaginas tissue. But as long as you have him wear a condom and you go slow I wouldn’t think anything would really happen.
