Baby showers

Hey guys ! First time mom here ... I’m 14 weeks and due July 7th with a boy! My husband and I have been looking at baby items randomly here and there ... it’s hard not to buy anything yet for fear of it not being available later . He just wants to register everything for a baby shower . My question is .. how early do you start registering ? How close to the due date do you normally have a shower ? My friends and my mom are already planning one for the beginning of June , I think that’ll give me a month (hopefully) to get everything settled in. Should I suggest sooner in case I’m early ? Do I buy the major items ( crib , changing table) as I find them now so I don’t have that stress later ? Thank you !!! I’ve only thrown baby showers , never been the one getting showered ! 💙
