Is Duphaston safe and necessary if spotting happens?

Hello,

I am on my 7 week and I went yesterday to the doctor and it was everything ok, I saw the baby and the heartbeat was good. I was suffering from spotting (very little brown/black blood) a week ago then yesterday when I woke up it came back again ( there was no sex or anything). My doctor said that no need to take Duphaston because everything shows good, but as long as you are traveling this week to US I will give you Duphaston 10MG, take it for a month because of the long trip. What do you think is it safe? And do I need to take it because of this brown spotting? Who took it before and everything went good?
