How much did you have in savings by the time your baby arrived?

We plan to have between $10K-$12K for emergency purposes.  $3K will go toward 6 weeks I will be missing from work, and any extra hospital bills insurance does not cover. Do you think this is adequate?

We had pretty much nothing, like a grand or 2 tops, mainly because we had just bought our first house and not long got married.
We do however live in the UK though, so we have the NHS (healthcare) so no hospital bills to pay for he birth/aftercare and we also got maternity and paternity pay. Husband works full time, got paternity pay for 2 weeks and I worked part time and got maternity pay for 9 months after baby was born. 
If we lived in the U.S I doubt we’d have been able to afford a child when we did.

I’m fortunate enough to half 12 weeks paid after the baby is born and to have really good healthy insurance (Military) . But we always have three months of living expenses saved up in a mmsa that is easy to access. So I’ve just been putting a little extra away right now about $3k to cover any incidentals that I haven’t already budgeted for. How much you need is really dependent on your financial situation.

probably nothing. 😂 my birth control failed, we've been living at my parents to save for a house but had to go ahead and start looking so we could have a house and setup before baby arrives as there's no room and I really don't want to have a baby in my parents place as its not clean. 😝 almost all our savings will be going to the down payment and then starting up bills, groceries and whatever minimal maintenance we need to do.

So far we have 7k I’m 15 weeks I’m hoping we will make it up to 10k if we are smart. But money is tight at the moment as we are moving home into a bigger house and we are going on two different holidays before baby is born. BTW we had the holidays booked before we found out we were pregnant.
