What's with these dummies? Are they better?

I don't know if this will be an odd question or not, but I see these dummies so much, mainly at the start when baby is first born, and I finally have to ask, what's the big deal about them or are they just normal? They don't look like normal dummies to me at all, I'm very confused and curious as to whether they are different or better or something? This is the only picture I could find by the way, I'm pretty sure it's these I'm talking about but if not they are basically identical.
