Umbilical cord around neck?

Question

What are some signs/ symptoms that a baby may have their umbilical cord around their neck?
On Monday my baby was kicking like crazy for hours , then for the past 18 hours she has been rather quiet. My dr told me it is ok to use the Home Doppler every once in a while for my own reassurance. My baby’s heartbeat is normally in the 140-150s yet this morning her heartbeat was 126. 
I’m concerned because when my MIL was pregnant with my DH my DH had his cord around his neck and needed to be delivered via emergency c section. When I ask my MIL about this , although she is a healthy and young women she doesn’t remember being pregnant with my DH at all.
My dr office doesn’t open for another half hour- so I will call them once they open and see what they say.

kick counts aren't done to 28 weeks gestation. Your baby is still very small and won't be felt regularly just yet.

Believe it or not, having the cord around their neck is very common, not necessarily a problem and generally not a reason to do a cesarean. It can cause possible complications but usually the doctor can just unwrap it as soon as the head comes out.
At 21 weeks movement might still be sporadic. I think I was right around there when I called my midwife bawling because I hadn’t felt my baby move all day. She had me drink some cold juice and lay down. Sure enough my little guy just needed some encouragement. 
Always call your midwife or OB with your concerns though. Sometimes our instincts are right and sometimes we just need a little reassurance.

It’s super common for the cord to get wrapped around bubs neck. It can’t choke them while they are inside your tummy as they don’t need to breathe yet. Only an issue if it’s wrapped so much that it’s cutting off supply from the placenta which they can see on the ultrasound. Have you had your 20 week scan? They usually just make a note of it so the doctor knows when you are delivering and they just slip it out of the way once the head is out :) like I said if it’s wrapped around multiple times it can be more of an issue. Being only 21 weeks though I’m sure baby is fine and just having a growth spurt so is sleeping more often :)
