chances of a csection??

today I had my 39-week appointment I was scheduled to be induced on the 16th. But my doctor is inducing me tomorrow because my baby is measuring 10 lbs on the ultrasound. There is a slight chance I might have to have a C-section has anyone else been through this I really don't want to C-section section I'm freaking out. I have had two other vaginal births that went very smooth

Okay mama, this is what I’ve learned, and it helped me calm down SO much. I was freaking out for the same reasons. At 28 weeks they told me the baby was getting “too big” and scheduled me for an ultrasound at 30 weeks. She was measuring a couple weeks ahead and they told me I have to get another ultrasound at 36 to see if the baby is too big. (I’m at 31 now so we’ll see) They keep throwing that “too big” phrase around. I did a ton of research and this is what I’ve found:
If the baby is healthy, and there is no complications to the baby’s health, THEY CANNOT FORCE YOU TO HAVE A C-SECTION. Thank goodness. If the baby is in distress, then yes they can say you have to have one. But if the baby isn’t in distress YOU CAN SAY NO. A lot of doctors in the US will say “the baby is too big and you have to have a c-section,” but that is not true. It’s more so they can either line their pockets, or make their lives easier, or so they don’t have to wait around for you to labor naturally. There are great doctors out there, but some are like this. 
Secondly, women have been delivering 11+ pound babies since the dawn of time. During my freak out I found out my aunt was over 11lbs and while her mom wasn’t thrilled she was so big, she refused a c-section. 
One of my friends from college was told her baby was closer to 12 lbs and that if she was going to give birth to him vaginally he would tear his shoulder. She refused the c-section, her baby was only 9lbs 5ounces, and nothing happened to his shoulder. 
Ultrasounds can be off by as much as 4 lbs! It’s a general measurement. 
It’s okay to ask for a second opinion if they try to make you do it!
If the baby is in distress in any way, like lowering heart rate and such, it’s probably better to get the c-section if they say it’s necessary, but in the case of “too big” I have read countless times (including in Ina Mays book) that a woman’s body will not allow the baby to get bigger than it can birth, unless you have rare medical conditions (I think a glucose diabetes is one but that statistic I’m unsure of). 
Doing all this research eased my mind and made me feel like I had options even if they try to scare me into it. I feel much better about the situation and feel empowered knowing I have options. I hope this info helps you too! ❤️ good luck mama

Ultrasounds can be off by I think 2-3 pounds, so don’t let it stress you too much :)

The ultrasound can easily be off. At 34ish weeks with my first going off an
Ultrasound I was told my daughter would be at least 9lbs. She was born at 40+1 and 7lbs even. Don’t stress it, they could easily be off. Good luck. 🍀

Doctor probably inducing tomorrow so they can have the weekend off.. it's not unheard of. Avoid induction if you don't want a higher risk of c section- I should know I got a c after a failed induction at 40 weeks.

The ultrasound could be off.. it was for my son. There was talk of taking him early by c section because he was too small. I went into labor early and he came out weighing over 7 lbs. now I did have to have an emergency c section for other reasons and I will say that you would much rather have a scheduled one than to have to have an emergency one.. it was not a pleasant experience.
