At my 38.1 week appointment my cervix was completely closed and only 40% effaced, the same thing with my 39.1 week appointment. Nothing changed. That week I had even been doing squats, went on a few walks and had been cleaning my house non stop hoping for progress and got nothing.

My dad is coming in to town this weekend because baby’s due date is on Monday the 15th. It’s not easy for him to get work off and since he lives on the other side of the USA I see him maybe once a year. So I asked my doctor about being induced this weekend so that my dad can be there and see my baby. This is my 1st baby and my dads

second grandchild. My doctor gave me the OK since I was this far along with no progress.

So on Sunday afternoon, one day before I’m technically due, I’m set to be induced. My doctor said he’d start me off on that pill that starts with a C that gets inserted vaginally to open my cervix. I can still cancel and choose to wait till it happens naturally (whenever that may be).

To induce or not induce? I’m not a high risk, I haven’t had any complications, and my pregnancy has been fairly smooth. I haven’t had any BH contractions yet, just light cramping. Part of me likes that I won’t have to wait in anticipation anymore, and that my dad will be able to be there. But the other part of me wonders if I should wait to see when/if this will happen naturally since it’ll be my first baby.
