birth control options

i've had some hormone troubles (hyperprolactinaemia) so had stopped taking birth control, the hormone stuff has got a bit better but i still would like to go back on it, i just don't jnow what the best thing would be that wouldn't change my hormones at all? BC also made me gain weight and get majorly depressed :/

i have spoken to family planning but they don't really know what to do with the situation!

There are a few hormone free options such as the copper iud, condoms, FAM, diaphragm, spermicide, and probably a couple more I've forgotten. Planned Parenthood or an obgyn (but a primary care physician will work as well) should be able to help you find something that works for you based on your medical history.

Family planning is not the same thing as planned parenthood despite the name (at least that's how it is in Texas). If you don't hear back, you need to call back. You're an adult and need to be responsible for it. They are busy and see lots of patients. People fall through the cracks. If the "family planning" person doesn't provide a good answer, go find an obgyn. They are the most knowledgeable people on the subject. The copper iud is the only hormone free iud on the market. If you don't want invasive, an iud isn't for you. Condoms are probably your best option if you don't want invasive or hormones.

like i said i have been to family planning to discuss it, the doctor i saw has said she would contact my doctor and find out what would be most suitable but i haven't heard back. thing is i don't want anything invasive, ive been told there's now a smaller coil that is less invasive but she said there's still an amount of hormones that come along with that?

Read taking charge of your fertility. Track everything from ovulation, temp, cervical position and cervical fluid and get and ovulation monitor which tells you 6-7 days prior to ovulation your high fertility and your peak day you abstain for 2 days or use back up 5 days prior to o and 2 days after o like spermicide and withdraw and a condom(if you want).
