Maternity leave

Has anyone else worked for a small company that wasn’t legally required to give maternity leave and negotiated they leave? I know doctors say 6 weeks recovery at least for vaginal birth and 8 weeks for c section and I guess I’ll be going off of that but I guess I’m just scared of not knowing what I’ll get and I’ve already told my boss we need to have a sit down and figure it out so that’s in motion but I was just hoping for some suggestions or stress relief I suppose.
