Why is this so complicated?

So I went to my regular prenatal appointment & I found out that I have Group B streptococcus (GBS), I have no idea what that is. I can’t get it through my head as to what it could be. I did get tested for chlamydia in the beginning of my pregnancy, & we got it treated & it’s cleared. Does this GBS have anything to do with it? My doctor doesn’t really give me much answers that will make me understand it. She didn’t give me any medication either. Will my baby be safe? Should I get any medication now? I feel like this pregnancy is so complicated & it’s only my first 😔

anyone can get it. I had it with my daughter. They do somwthing when your in labor ......but to be honest I don't even remember. it wasn't a big deal at all. but I remember freaking out about it too.

It is a bacteria in your vagina that normally lives in 25% of women. when in active labour or as soon as your water breaks you need antibiotics so you don't pass it to baby. a long as you get the antibiotics (vey quickly after your water breaks) your baby has only a 1% of getting it.

I tested positive my 2nd pregnancy. All it is is an overgrowth of normal bacteria found in the vagina or rectum. All that is done is when you go into labor go straight to the hospital and tell them you tested positive for GBS (it'll also be in your chart) and they start you on antibiotics if your in active labor. Baby will be perfectly fine as long as you get antibiotics when in active labor.

its a bacteria virus that you can get while pregnant. it isn't an std and isn't from having one. if you do have it your doctor will give you medicine while in labor so that it doesn't pass to your baby
