What would you do?

My husband and I are excitedly expecting our first child. We've talked about many different things so far after finding out. I feel very strongly that if our child is gay/bi/pan/Trans etc I will love our child no matter what and when I talked to my husband about it he said "I can deal with all but trans" it killed me... I don't want my children to deal with disappointment from their own family or feel bullied. He never said he would disown our child if they were trans just that he wouldn't deal or agree with it... I'm not sure how to take that. What would you do or say if your spouse said that to you? How would you yourself react if your child was Transgender?

I know this isn't gonna be a response to your actual question.... But my suggestion is the old saying "don't borrow trouble".

Why worry about it until you actually have the problem? You have no way of knowing 1.it will be a problem and 2 if that is *actually how he would feel when actually faced with it.

You know he says that now.. But once he sees that baby he will love it no matter what! Trust me.. I had that talk with my husband while I was pregnant he said the same thing now our son is 4 months his attitude changed..

I think this conversation is pointless for another 10 years. Now that yall are worrying about it yall will have a completely straight child with no issues. And once the kid is here he'll love it no matter what. I think you should just drop it.

First of all neither one could happen so why are you making a big deal about it now? Drop it Hun, you could be hurting yourself for nothing.

Honestly i wouldnt stress (especially) pregnant about something that might not happen. I personally would be loving towards my transgendered child but i know it would be very difficult getting use to it. I say cross that bridge if and when you get there.

I think he can say that all he wants, until he is faced with the situation. Until he is, he cannot answer 100% accurately. He can answer what he thinks he can or can't deal with, or what he would or wouldn't do. But he doesn't know the love he will have for his child yet. So he really can't say. I think things will be okay. Keep your chin up, and pray for the best! Pray that you don't have children that will have to deal with hardships like these (I am in no way saying i look down upon any of these, but let's face it, they are still hardships even in 2015).

I'm sure you will both love your baby so much. No matter what. Things are often said without being meant.

My SO is a strong catholic (doesn't approve of homosexuality, transgendered etc) and I am completely the opposite. We have had this conversation as well and he said the same thing. He is a good man (despite his narrow beliefs) and I believe that when it comes to his own flesh and blood, he will love them regardless of these things. Saying something like this before they actually happen doesn't necessarily mean anything.

When women are pregnant they always say it doesn't matter what the sex is. As long as the baby is healthy. Why should that change a few years down the road??
