What could be wrong?!
My baby is a month old makes this loud sound when breathing when she’s awake. I had a telephone consultation with my GP who advised me to take my baby to the A&E; at the hospital. I was concerned about taking her to the hospital when she hasn’t had her immunisations yet. Her first immunisation is at 6-8weeks so we are still waiting for that. However, to be on a safer side, I took her took her in to be checked.
We went to the hospital and was seen by the doctor who kept us waiting in his consultation room for 30 minutes only to come back to say “I am seeing you and another patient at the same time, that’s why I kept you waiting”. He went on to say “why will you bring a 6 weeks old baby to the hospital when she hasn’t had her immunisation”. I told him that I was told by the GP to take her to the hospital. He did not even examine my child. All he did was stare at her while she’s sleeping and said “she’s sleeping and not making loud breathing sound so she’s fine. Take her home”. I questioned his attitude and why he did not even seem to care. He said “don’t get me wrong. If she is breathing loud when awake then she should be breathing loudly when sleeping too. Which she isn’t so.. so she’s fine. She seems to have a blocked nose that’s why she’s breathing like that. You can take her home”. I pointed out that her nose wasn’t blocked. He said that he was certain that it is. He then told us to go home as he had to get back to his other patient.
We are back at home. My daughter is still making loud breathing noises when she’s a wake, which stops when she’s deep asleep. I really don’t understand why.
