Puppies and boyfriend problems

So. My boyfriend/ fiancé and I have been living together for almost a year, and recently got a puppy, you know, to have a puppy.

But now all we seem to do is fight about it, and I don't know how that bodes for our future, especially as we are TTC.

This morning he got up and fed the animals and whatever before me, and when I got up and asked what he had (or hadn't ) done, so that I knew if I needed to feed her or take her out, all he did was get defensive and then stop talking to me because he feels "attacked"

Am I going crazy?

We are meant to be able to share responsibilities and talk about them, right?? Now I'm the bitch because I left for work early instead of sitting and being ignored.

Seriously? What the heck am I meant to do?
