Gender Reveal Party for Family (When You Already Know the Sex?)

Question

I'm currently 8w2d, but at my next OB appointment (11w5d), the doctor said she can do blood work to determine the gender, amongst a number of other things.  My husband and I would like to know the sex ASAP to help us prepare everything sooner, but we'd still like to have a gender reveal party where we reveal the sex to our close family members and friends when we move back near them around 16w... is it still appropriate to have a gender reveal party when you and hubby already know the sex?

All the people I personally know that had a gender reveal party knew themselves Before the reveal what they were having.. it was just to reveal to family and friends..

Hubby and I planned the gender reveal and went and picked up our envelopes from the doctor. One envelope was the test results from the genetics lab and, the other was the gender. I opened the test results to see everything with the genetics stuff and the gender was the first thing listed. 😒 My doc didn’t warn me it would be on there. So, we let friends and family know that we already knew but, were still planning the party to surprise them. And then hubby and I spent the next few weeks trying to confuse everyone! He stayed Team Pink, I Stayed Team Blue And we both kept it up until the reveal! 😂 So many people were surprised because they really had no idea what it could possibly be!

We had our own little gender reveal at home with just the two of us (my friend bought us cupcakes with colored filling) and then we had one with the rest of our family like 8 weeks later. It was really hard to wait but it was a lot of fun doing a gender reveal with everyone!

I know a lot of people who knew the sex of their baby before the gender reveal. For our first pregnancy, we chose to find out with everyone so we had the tech write the sec of the baby in a card that we mailed to the baker. The day of our party we learned with our closest friends and family that we were having a boy. This time, My husband and I will be finding our before the gender reveal. Just to switch it up!

My boyfriend and I revealed to my family on Thanksgiving. We knew the gender and it made it so easy to plan something nice. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with anyone else knowing before me.

Yeah, of course. 
How can you plan to announce the sex and have a box of helium balloons in the correct colour be ready if your don’t know.  Of a cake you cut into and the blue of pink smarties come out.  
By knowing you can do lots of fun things to surprise your guests.  You could get them to place a bet when they arrive before you reveal.

I’m doing the same thing!! I think it’s a great idea! And it’s different.  I’m also telling the one family member who is throwing the party but only the 3 of us will know!
