Buying for nursery?

I'm curious how much stuff everyone bought for their nurseries and what items you put on your registry and waited to get? I'm 20 weeks and starting to get the nursery together but my family keeps telling me to wait for my shower in 10 weeks and just put the stuff on my registry? I just want to get my nursery done now lol

I added a lot of expensive big items to my registry because I wanted to use the completion discount after my shower not expecting to get any of them. Well I got a lot of stuff like my 100$ changing table my 100$ pack and play my 160$ baby swing (I put that on there in case I wanted to get it and couldn't believe someone got it for us) the point is you don't think people will get you the big stuff but they will. I literally only had to by my glider/rocking chair, a rug, and a dresser and I got the rug and dresser on resale sites. I feel you on the need to get the room done but I would hold off and see what your friends and family get you so you can spend your money on whatever is left you really need! Good luck

Go ahead and buy stuff now! Ask for lots of diapers lol Really at all the baby showers I’ve been to no one has gotten any BIG things you need for a nursery. Unless it’s a crib from one of the parents. It’s mostly the little things that iveseen bought at baby showers. Diaper genies, clothes, baby monitors(could be big or small I suppose but ive only ever seen this once and my parents got it for my sister) medicines, diapers, things like that. One of the baby furniture places around here was moving and had an awesome sale so I just bought all the furniture myself. Got two cribs, two mattresses, and a dresser for about $800. I just told everyone we really needed things like diapers, bath stuff, feeding things, and stuff like that. My grandfather did help get the last couple of things I wanted for the nursery but it was more like he just gave me money instead of a gift and I spent it on those lol.

We bought our furniture ourselves. That said I have friends who’s parents or in laws have purchased their nursery furniture so it just depends. I knew none of my friends would be buying those items (nor would I expect that). Most of the items on my registry that are bigger aren’t furniture big. 
We have the monitor, high chair, and a bassinet on there. Like others said I figure I’ll have to buy it in the end regardless so might as well get the registry completion discount :)

Crib, changing table, decor, lamp, etc 
You don’t really put furniture on you registry.. more so diapers, swings, blankets, play mats ... anything you may need (“small” items)

I added EVERYTHING to my registry. For two reasons- you never know (I ended up getting the biggest thing on my list, the rocker) and because it was easier to keep track of things.

We bought all the furniture and decor for our baby girl’s room. I don’t expect people at my baby shower to provide those things. My registry has like clothes, bottles, swaddles, and simple stuff that most people buy at a baby shower. But hubby and I have also begun buying clothes but we haven’t gotten many but we are getting things above newborn and 3 months to start stock piling cause I don’t think many people will buy us bigger clothes.

We startws buying for the nursest at 5 weeks. I'm 28weeks now and we have all the major nursery furniture. I plan to order two last furniture pieces Tuesday to store some odds and ends and the rest of our cloth diapers that are currently stored in the closet with our a proper spot.

I have the most generous mother in law on the planet. So she has been insisting that we put everything on our registry and just wait for the baby shower. It has been the hardest thing ever, but she actually ended up buying our crib and changing table/dresser last weekend and we got to put that together and it helped. As hard as it is, I would just put everything o  there and wait. You never know what people will decide to gift you, and you can always save in the meantime. The I my thing we bought ourselves was his crib bedding, and that's because it sold out and I was so in love with it that I couldn't be without it.
