FMLA leave help

We live in CA and I have my leave figured out but we’re having a hard time with my husband’s time. He hasn’t worked for his employer for a year yet. He started in May, but he was working for a different company previously. We aren’t sure how FMLA works or paid family leave. Paid family leave didn’t specify how long he must’ve been working at his job it FMLA says something about needing to work 12 months prior. Our baby girl is coming next month, anyone know the rules?
