Birthing methods?

So at the moment I’m planning on just winging birth/labor I think as long as she comes out healthy idc how she gets here. I like the idea of a natural birth but then again even though  I have a high pain tolerance I’ve also never experienced giving birth so if I can’t handle it I’m okay with an epidural. But I feel like this is probably not the best plan. 
So what did you guys do?

I read Ina May and did some prenatal classes with the hope and plan of having an unmedicated birth. It went really well and while the contractions were intense, I focused on how it was muscles doing their job and that my body could handle it. My son was born two hours after we got to the hospital, in a birthing tub

I had a natural Home birth with my first and am planning the same for my second. I would say if you want to have a natural birth to educate yourself on the labor and birthing process. Ina mays guide to childbirth is a great book to read! Start practicing relaxation techniques now. Mine was deep breathing through the contractions but everyone has their own thing that works for them. Another good book is “birth without fear”. Don’t think about labor as painful but as hard work. Relax and let your body do the work for you. It really is mind over matter. Spinningbabies.com is a great resource for baby positions and how it affects the labor process. Good luck, mama!

I couldn't afford to take any classes so I just read stuff online, watched birthing videos on YouTube and talked with the labor delivery nurses at my doctors office. I ended up having an unmedicated vaginal delivery. I waited as long as I could before going to the hospital (which might not have been the best thing as I almost delivered in the car). The pain was intense but I progressed quickly and the whole process lasted about 5 hours from start to finish. I only pushed maybe 5 times before my daughter came out. I imagined that the contractions were like waves- which helped me deal with the pain. I also imagined my cervix opening up like a flower. (May sound silly but it worked for me). I did have some pretty serious postpartum hemorrhaging  that was attended to quickly by great nurses and doctors but other than that it was a good experience with minor tearing and a quick recovery.

That was pretty much my plan: Go as long as I could without the epidural. I got it and I don’t regret it and I’m glad I didn’t put the added stress on myself of wanting things to go perfectly a certain way.

I wanted to start out with as little interventions as possible. My theory was if I say “yeah I’m getting the epidural” I’d get it too soon and then it would wear off or become less effective or something. So I did natural for as long as I wanted then got the epidural when there was end in sight lol. Some people say their hospitals had restrictions on when they could get the epidural but I was able to get mine when I was at 6 cm then I had my son about two hours after that.
