Induction?

Question

What are some reasons you have experienced getting induced? 
I want to ask my doctor if it’s possible for me to have an induction sooner than my due date since I am 38 weeks pregnant and he is already weighing 7lbs 10oz but I don’t know if this is a legitimate reason

My doctor won’t induce until 41 weeks unless medically necessary. Baby being too big is a medical reason but your doctor will bring it up if he feels it’s a concern.

I wss induced due to high blood pressure, reduced fetal growth, and gestational diabetes.. My advice is of you don't medically need it, don't. Inductions aren't fun, especially if your body isn't ready to labor yet.

That’s pretty much a normal weight. If the baby isn’t growing properly they’ll induce, if it’s too big they’ll do a c section or induce you. My drs don’t really let women go past 40. I’ll start trying to induce naturally once i get to 37 weeks

My doctor will do it at 39 weeks, I’m having a lot of problems and one big one is my blood pressure!  My doctor is trying to wait till I’m 37 weeks (I’m 35 weeks) but depending on my last labs it could be any day. She said I have had enough times of it being high to need to be induced

I was induced with my first 2 days before my due date. It was because I was already dilated to a 4, was having mild contractions and live 45 mins away from the hospital. My doctor was also going out of town in 2 days and knew I was not comfortable with the idea of someone else delivering my baby if it was not absolutely necessary. So it was partially for convenience (except it was Halloween so she missed out on that with her own baby- it was her daughter’s first Halloween too), but she felt my body was ready.

Talk to your doctor about it 😊 Mine offered when I was 40, I didn’t want to, I wanted her to come on her own. Ended up having to get induced at 41+2 to avoid the chances of her pooping inside and swallowing it.

I've been induced twice due to high blood pressure. The only non-medical reasons I have heard of in person was my doctor told me he induced a patient early because the father of the baby was dying and likely wouldn't live until the due date and a friend of mine was induced because her spouse was deploying before the due date, she was 39 weeks.
