to (SOME) Christians

my question is why is it when trying to prove your point (or that your belief is.right) to others of a different religion you quote bible verses? I mean I obviously don't think the bible is correct (or believe 90% of it) so why do you think quotes from it will convince me?

I would also like to point out I know not everyone does this (and most I've talked to don't). also I'm asking this as a legitimate question because I just don't get it?
