IUD and pregnancy?

do you recommend using condoms when on the IUD? or some other method? (pullout, etc). my doctor doesn’t seem to be concerned with pregnancy at all. but i’d like to make sure before i go having sex left and right. thanks!

As long as you aren’t worried about STI/STDs the IUD is over 99% effective. The strings allow you to check to make sure it’s in place. And you can get it checked to make sure it’s in place. However accidents happen with all birth control.

Use condoms to prevent STDs and STIs. 
If you’re in a committed relationship and both people have been tested negative for those, then the IUD should be reliable enough to use solo. If you’re still worried about it (it creeps into my mind sometimes too. i actually have a lot of anxiety about it because i’ve never ever in a million years wanted kids), add the pullout method on top too. That’s what I do.
