At what age did you start using a forward facing car seat?

I’m waiting until 2 years. Curious when everyone else is switching because I know not everyone follows the safety recommendations nowadays

It's SAFEST to wait until 2 years, regardless of height, weight, and how soon you legally can. All i care about is the safest position for my child so i'll keep him rear-facing until 2+.

Not until they outgrew the height restrictions for their seats. My eldest was rear facing until 3.5 and my second until 4.5. My youngest will be as long as possible also.

We were going to turn my daughter forward facing after her second birthday because she is so tall but got lazy and never did and thank god we didn’t. We were rear ended while waiting at a red light by a truck going 60mph. Neither of my kids(both rear facing) even had a scratch. I think she would have gotten hurt if she hadn’t been rear facing so we’re going to leave her like that until she reaches the size limit.

It also depends on the size of the car. We have a small Honda Civic coup. We originally got my son the graco 4ever convertible car seat and had it rear facing. We were pulled over because I was sitting to close to the dash board. Then officer said It’s not just about the baby’s safety but all passengers. So we had bought a small graco click connect car seat. When my son exceeds his weight and length requirements on the baby seat. We will be transitioning him back to his convertible seat and forward facing. I’m still hoping he doesn’t grow to fast. I would like for him to stay rear facing as long as he fits comfortably in his baby seat.

It was different for each of my kids because recommendations and laws have changed significantly in the 10 years since my first child was born and the 3 different states we have lived in. With my oldest, he was tiny for a really long time, so he was rear facing until he outgrew his carseat, which was well passed 2 just because of his size. My middle went front facing at 18 months because that was the recommendation at the time and that was when he outgrew his rear facing carseat. My youngest was a little passed 2. With her we had the foresight to buy a convertible carseat so she was able to stay rear acing longer than her brother despite growing like my middle son did. My oldest is 10 and legally doesn't need a seat any more, but he is still small of his age, so he uses a small booster seat so his seatbelt fits properly. My middle (7) has a booster seat with a back on it that positions the seatbelt. My 4 year old is front facing, but still in a 5-point harness seat. We're currently shopping for a bigger vehicle to accommodate all of that, plus baby #4's carseat needs.

My kid was 75-90th percentile and is a hoss. We had to turn him around at 20 months because he outgrew the weight and height restrictions
