trying to conceive

I have a 4 year old daughter from a previous relationship. And me and my so have decided we want to start trying to our own! We had sex on almost every fertile day according to with app and I am suppose to get my period in a day or so. took a first response pregnancy test yesterday it came back negative. really got my hopes up for this hoping we can get a positive result in the coming months. any tips?! are the ovulation days usually correct with this app?
