Is this normal?

I had my first obgyn appointment today at 7 weeks and she basically came in, prescribed me diclegis, did a vaginal ultrasound, and was out probably than 5 minutes. When she did the ultrasound she turned on the audio for about 5 seconds to let us hear the heartbeat. It was so fast that I could've even process what was going on and then she turned it off. She didn't ask me any questions except how the morning sickness was and didn't do any exams. She said to come back in a month for a whole body exam.

that's exactly how the first appointment goes for most women. If you wanted to hear the heartbeat longer you could have asked. She has loads of patients and she has to see everybody within a certain amount of time unfortunately

That’s the same as I had, looked at the baby to make sure it was in the uterus and then measured the heart beat I didn’t even get to hear the heart beat myself and that was in i was in and out. At that early there’s really not much to see and do since bub is tiny, once I got to my 16 week appointment it was much longer and more questions/paperwork and tests.

I had that happened to me in my previous pregnancy and switched doctors. some doctors beside manner is just the greatest. when I switched doctors I was treated better and heard that a few of the other doctor's patients had switched to them for the same reason. So go with your gut!

They just make sure baby is doing good , my ob is like this too sadly 😒 but as long as baby is fine I'm good with it,

Yes totally normal. Be prepared to wait for a long time each appointment only to be seen for a few minutes. One of the reasons why I switched to a homebirth midwife.

That's about all they can do that early. If you didn't like her you can switch but that early i dont know what else you wanted. Did you just want her to talk to you more?

What do you mean come back in a month for a whole body exam? OBGYNs don’t really do that. They just check on your vagina and the baby.
