Do you let you baby have toys when eating?

I know a lot of people think it's wrong to let your children play by the table, but I allow it since he's so little and he also eats better when he's busy playing and doesn't notice when I sneak in some food in his mouth!

I am crazy about eating and playing at the same time for a couple different reasons. The first is that I want my son to know that when it is time to eat, he sits in his chair and eats not plays, I'm not saying we can't have fun at meal time but it's not play time. As a pediatric nurse I saw several kids become neurologically devasted due to eating while playing and then choking. I also want him to sit at the table with us and have some manners, my sister's daughter is 4 1/2 years old and she still runs around at dinner and it drives me crazy, I'd told my sister several times it wasn't safe not to mention rude but it wasn't until about 6 months ago that he daughter was running around with food in her mouth and choked so badly that my brother in law had to do the Heimlich maneuver on her that my sister finally got it.

We do baby led weaning and my son feeds himself. He loves food so much lol. Even if I were to put a toy on his tray he’d ignore it. 
I try to start healthy habits early, I don’t want him associating mealtime with playtime. he is learning and exploring different textures and food and tastes.

I said no, but having no toys while eating has never been an issue.... if she wanted a small toy to help her eat then I wouldn't be opposed to it. 
For me I'd be freaking out that her toys are getting food all over them and one (or more!) things to clean 🙄 lol

I don’t see any problem with it if they want them. My 10 month old doesn’t do it yet but sometimes my 2 yr old does. It’s not like they do it when we have guests or when we’re out.

My daughter plays with toys in her high chair while I make food but the toys go when she starts eating. She has one toy that sticks to her tray and that sometimes stays but she has no interest in it while she eats. She’s focused when she eats.

if my baby has toys while eating, she takes turns putting food and then toys in her mouth... it doesn't work well! I just take them while she eats.

No toys, but i do sometimes play cartoons for him to watch, if he is being super fussy about eating
