How do you save money on groceries and bills?

In 2018 I am really trying to cut back on things. I would usually go to the grocery store and just grab whatever without looking at prices. I would really like some tips on coupons and things like that. With my electric I started unplugging things that aren’t in use

I like to make a list before I go or I know I’ll spend a lot more! I have ideas of what to make for lunch/dinners that week too.

check the ads they send you in the mail. before you go shoping, mark things that are on sale that you want and base your meals on whats on sale. if you forget. grab the papers they leave at the front of the store and check out the sales there. planning ahead and meal prepping also helps save money

We meal plan and only shop at aldi. We’ve also cut wayyy back in meat consumption and sometimes just go meatless. Also, buying smart as in dry beans instead of canned, frozen veggies instead of canned, a box of bisquick or making things from scratch instead of buying biscuit rolls or pancake mix or cookie dough. I water down all sauces that we use. And have learned to eat less and less often.

First, ALWAYS make a list either on paper or on your phone of what you need. Whatever is not on the list, do not get because it is unnecessary and increasing your dollar amount once you get to the register. As I shop, I generally always only buy the WalMart brand (except for a very few name brands that I stick with) and keep track of the price of everything on my calculator on my phone as I shop so I’m aware of how much money I’m about to spend and won’t be surprised at checkout. By doing this, if I see a price I don’t like, it helps me by deciding if I need to put something back, if I have extra money to spend, if I need to buy something cheaper, and if I’m sticking within my budget. I make a list before I go grocery shopping. Then I cross reference that list with my Ibotta and Coupons.com app to see if there are any rebates/coupons I can redeem electronically. I also opt for house brand instead of name brand when I can. If you shop at Walmart submit your receipts to the savings catcher. It isn’t much at once but it can add up and you can use the balance towards other in-store or online purchases. We also invested in the nest thermostat so we can control temp from our phones. During the day when we’re gone it’s at a set temp and then a few minutes before we get home we adjust the thermostat. It’s adjusted our electric bill by at least $30-$50 less than it was before.

We look at the ad for the local grocery store and we eat whatever is on sale.   Tops is great  because they will have family meal deals where for example you buy a family pack of hamburger and you get 9 things free and it makes 3-4 meals.    My older kids laugh at me when the ad comes because they know oh Mac and cheese is on sale again guess we will be having that this week.   This last week pot pies were on sale and I sent hubby on 2 different days to stock our freezer.

We buy in bulk. Toiletries, frozen foods, supplies. All of our frozen foods are placed in freezer bags with dates on them. We use coupons and have a list before we go to the store. We also shop at Trader Joe’s for our dairy (milk, yogurt, cheeses) snacks, and breakfast bars, then we shop at a farmers market every Wednesday in Manhattan for our veggies. If it’s too cold for the farmers market, we go to Whole Foods. It’s tiresome, but we only go bulk shopping about once every month or month and a half, we go to TJs whenever we run out of dairy (about once every 2 weeks) and get produce weekly.

Oo I use coupons, the Krazy coupon app, and the ibotta app. I get electronic gift cards from ibotta for money earned on items of groceries I buy. Have earned 127 so far.

we meal plan each week and i make a list when we go to the store. we only have Wal-Mart in our area so we use the savings catcher and it checks the other stores in nearby cities for the best price. I also only buy what is needed , if it isn't a need this week ,it can wait till either next week or when we have extra money to spend. for the past few months I've kept our grocery bill at $100 or less
