After you call your OB and tell them you are pregnant, when do they usually take you in for your first appointment? As in how many weeks?

They should ask you when your last period was and they'll calculate when to schedule your from there. Every ob office is different but most see you between 8-10 weeks.

I called and went in for a confirmation urine test and to fill out paperwork at six weeks (found out at 5). At week 8 i got blood work done and a basic health check up. At week 10, I did a Pap smear and my first ultrasound. Week 14 I did a basic health check in and they listened to babies heart with a doppler. At week 15 I went to a private clinic and found out we are having a boy. At my 20 week appointment we had our anatomy scan and our doctor review it with us. I'm currently 21 weeks. Just thought I'd share a basic overview of what you could experience in terms of a basic outline. But every doctor is different, and your health may cause them to schedule more appointments if needed, etc. So it just depends. You can always call and ask!

Typically the first appointment is between 8-12 weeks. Prior to the 8 week mark it can be difficult to see a strong heart beat and it’s fairly common to see an empty yolk sack.

I went in for confirmation around 6-7 weeks. 12 weeks, I had a dating scan. Medically, it’s not really necessary to see them earlier than 10 weeks. Your ultrasound may not show anything, but a sack until then and people freak out when they see that.
